Warm Roof Systems for Energy-Efficient, Code-Compliant Waterproofing
Integrated insulation and membrane systems that manage moisture, control heat loss, and protect from the top down.
Keep the heat in and the water out
Warm roofs are fast becoming the standard in high-performance building design across Auckland and Northland. At MPM Waterproofing, we install warm roof systems that combine rigid insulation and membrane waterproofing into one fully sealed layer above the roof structure.
By placing insulation above the substrate, warm roofs prevent condensation, reduce thermal bridging, and meet H1 energy efficiency and E3 moisture requirements under the NZ Building Code. Our systems are used in schools, offices, apartments, and high-end residential projects, and are tailored to your specific build-up, drainage, and detailing needs.
We work closely with contractors and architects to deliver warm roof solutions using Nuralite and Viking Roofspec approved systems, fully warranted, thermally efficient, and watertight for the long term.
Applications
Commercial buildings and public facilities
Installed on schools, offices, libraries, and retail projects to meet thermal and waterproofing performance standards.
Over-living areas and internal spaces
Prevents heat loss and internal condensation above bedrooms, lounges, or office fit-outs.
Low-slope and flat roof structures
Ideal for flat roofs with limited fall, combining insulation and drainage in one seamless system.
Tapered warm roof systems
Provides both thermal insulation and engineered drainage falls without altering roof structure.
Apartments and multi-unit developments
Improves comfort and efficiency in multi-residential projects with roofing over habitable areas.
Re-roofing and thermal upgrades
Used to upgrade older roofs or bring existing buildings up to current H1/E3 code compliance.
Our Process
-
We assess the roof substrate, fall, internal use, thermal requirements, and NZ Building Code compliance needs at your Auckland site to determine the most suitable warm roof build-up before work begins.
-
We prepare a tailored build-up using PIR, XPS, or EPS insulation boards with a compatible membrane system to suit the project. A detailed quote and scope of work will be provided before any work begins.
-
A vapour control layer is installed and the substrate primed before insulation boards are laid in a staggered pattern to eliminate cold bridging and prepare the surface for membrane application.
-
Our certified applicators install the membrane system over the insulation using torch-on or liquid application methods, with close attention to all upstands, penetrations, and junction details.
-
Final checks are completed under MPM's QA framework. We provide site photos, PS3 producer statements, and warranty documentation on completion.
